The River Landing Inn has been established to provide a unique experience for those seeking a place to relax, unwind, and rejuvenate. A long trip to the mountains or coast is not necessary for those seeking to escape the hustle of every day life. The proximity to most areas of the Triangle and Triad make this the perfect spot to escape to a quieter place. Should you choose to tour the local wineries, kayak or canoe on the Haw River, take leisurely walks on the grounds of the Inn, or just sleep, eat, read and relax; you are sure to enjoy your stay. We look forward to hosting you at the River Landing Inn.
Innkeeper/owner Matt Diehl has lived in North Carolina since 1996. A native of the Hudson Valley Region of New York, he has also lived in Phoenix, Arizona prior to relocating to central North Carolina. A passion for food, drink, music, and travel have been the base ingredients for the creation of River Landing Inn.
A co-worker of Matt's introduced him to Dave Wilson in ealry 2004, when Matt bought an old farmhouse in Orange County, North Carolina. Dave, a native of the Piedmont, was a self-employed jack-of-all trades at the time, and got involved in helping to create the Inn.
So the search began to find the right location to create a space that anyone seeking a retreat would enjoy. That lengthy search led to this location in Saxapahaw, on what had been a small horse farm. The Inn reflects the character of the original barn, with many of the building materials incorporated into the interior and exterior construction. The 12' high ceilings and numerous windows create an open and inviting environment. The beautiful landscape is just steps from the building.
Today, Matt and wife and partner Meredith Owen run the River Landing Inn. We look forward to hosting you on your visit to Saxapahaw.
